The Morning After the Night Before – Top 10 New Year’s Party Clean-Up Tips

You may feel like you need a detox after the Christmas party season but your house will be even more desperate after that amazing New Year's Eve party. Follow the simple steps below to get your home ship-shape again in record time.

Open those windows
Fresh air will help cleanse the house of those stale alcohol and food odours. It will also work wonders for any trace of a hangover.
Grubby garments
Protect your clothes (maybe your pyjamas) by donning an apron and some rubber gloves.

Save the food
You may have some tasty leftovers lying around that will still be fine to eat. Collect them up and store them in the fridge for a tasty snack after the cleaning. You'll probably be in no mood to cook up a feast.

Recycling
Pick up anything with food or liquid still left in it so you prevent further spills and stains. You could use a bucket so you don't have to keep trekking to the sink. Grab any bottles, cans, cardboard or plastic from the bombsite and put them aside for recycling - it's a good way to start tackling the mound of mess.

Glassware
Gather up all the glasses by using a tray covered with a damp cloth for grip. You can use the bucket again for any missed liquid. You could set the dishwasher going with all the glassware or wash it up and leave it to drain on a clean tea towel by the sink.

Crockery and cutlery
Put all the dirty crockery and cutlery into soak in the sink so any food that has hardened overnight can soften.

Stain removal
It's inevitable that you might have to remove some food stains from the carpet or drink stains from your favourite tablecloth. Dig out the Vanish set of stain removers and treat immediately for the best results.

Vacuum time
Give the whole party space a thorough vacuuming. This would be a perfect time to try our new Vanish Powerpowder to help lift any stains or bad odours away from the fabric. The moist powder helps remove tough ground in dirt, odours and dust trapped deep in the carpet pile.

Let the dishwasher do the work
Put the glasses away and load the dishwasher with the crockery and cutlery that you put in soak.

Wipe the slate clean
Finish the task by wiping down any surfaces with a multipurpose cleaner and mopping any hard floors to remove any sticky stains. Job done!
