Whitening Facts & Tips

What is it about white clothes that we love so much?

White clothes go with pretty much anything. Whether it’s a crisp white shirt, underwear, towels, bed linen or a fun alternative to the little black dress, we all have whites in our wardrobe that we want to keep sparkling!

In summer especially, white clothes tend to get worn a lot more than darker clothes due to the common belief that white colours reflect the sun.

Why do white clothes go grey?

It isn’t hard to see the difference between new brilliant white clothes and whites that have faded and become greyer in colour. From regular wear and washing to accidental stains and even pollution, your favourite white clothes are almost always going to lose their brilliance over time.

How do you wash white clothes?

Always wash your whites on their own.

While you may feel it’s more convenient to wash all your clothes together, mixing your white and coloured garments when washing makes it more likely that colours will be transferred onto lighter clothes.

How do you get clothes whiter?

Whilst there are many homemade methods that are said to help whiten your clothes, a few of them may be quite detrimental to the fabric. It is best to use a product that is specifically made to remove greyness and whiten garments, such as Vanish Gold for Whites Powder.
